Coping with Bereavement

The COPING programs provide group support for people as they walk through the process of grief and loss. COPING is led by a community group of loving, compassionate, caring, trained volunteers who have experienced grief in their personal lives. Seminars are Free of charge.

Sessions include topics like:

Introduction to grief

  • The myths & dimensions of grief
  • Coping with explosive emotions
  • Men in grief / children in grief
  • Keeping our memories fresh
  • Reconciliation
  • New identity
  • The freedom to express our grief and move towards a renewed sense of "meaning and purpose" for our lives.

This program has been developed to help individuals to express their feelings of sadness, in their own unique way, and come to terms with their loss. Coping with Bereavement seminars are an eight-week program held three times per year: September, January and April.

Ongoing monthly follow-up programs continue after the initial group session. A monthly Support Group with dinner (6:45 pm) is offered every 3rd Monday of each month. Members of the Coping Team are pleased to visit with anyone who needs some help and information between sessions.
